Quantico’s copywriting course is perhaps the best copywriting course you can find in Singapore. The course is well organised and limited to a small number of participants, which made it feel personal and easy to ask questions. The trainers are genuine, interesting and professionals with a wealth of experience in the industry.

I attended Quantico’s copywriting course last year in December 2016, and I have nothing but good things to say about the course & the head trainer for my session, Arjun Khara. Arjun was extremely personable & knowledgable not just about the subject matter but also on other important business areas like branding. The conducive and informal setting of the workshop also allowed us to easily express ourselves and explore the different modes of learning. Highly recommended on all levels.

Went to a few courses and got to learn real-life examples of how copywriting, content-marketing and blogging was done. I have been to other places but Quantico was the best place to really learn and move forward in life.

The copywriting course conducted by Deepa was in-depth, practical and most importantly engaging. Even though it was conducted online, there were plenty of hands-on activities allowing participants to apply the principles of copywriting to possible write-ups useful across different platforms. The feedback and practical advice given has also been incredibly insightful.

As part of Quantico’s Advanced Copywriting Programme, I attended their introductory courses on Copywriting, Digital & Content Marketing, Branded & Corporate Storytelling, and Arts Communication.

There are many resources on how to write better, and for me at least, trying to decide the ‘right’ way to draft something for a specific channel can get overwhelming at times. What I appreciated about each Quantico course was that a good part of each workshop was dedicated to helping us understand the ‘why’ behind each technique, and how it could be used in our organisations.

With small group sizes for online workshops, it was also interesting to see how the frameworks could be customised and extended to different industries, and for different goals.

Although the introductory courses run for two days, the instructors recognise that learning takes time and continue to offer their support and expertise even after the workshop. I’m particularly grateful to Deepa who has been generous with her time and feedback. Rather than offering one solution, she takes time to listen and unhurriedly helps me to see different options. This, in a lot of ways, is similar to how they approach their workshops: understanding different needs, and guiding participants to finding and using tools in a way that best suits them.

Copywriting Course Jakarta, Indonesia

Learn how professional and freelance copywriting works, and which capabilities are required for a rewarding writing career in Indonesia’s burgeoning digital economy.

1. Copywriting course overview

It is more useful to define copywriting in terms of purpose and function, rather than apply generic descriptions (persuasive writing, selling, engagement). This is because copywriting is a specialist field, much like music or law. And in these fields practitioners perform specific functions e.g. a jazz pianist, or a tax lawyer instead of musician or lawyer.

Much like practitioners of music or law, copywriters too can specialise in more than one area, but we do need a speciality. Jakarta is a booming urban centre with an economy in need of industry-specific content capabilities in healthcare, finance, fashion, technology, government, NGOs, and hospitality. To become a professional copywriter in Jakarta we first have to identify which activities need copywriters, then honestly assess whether our current capabilities are suited to those activities. If these are lacking, we can acquire them through professional training. This is where a professional copywriting course can fill the lacuna.

2. Copywriting course objectives

This course (i) applies professional writing pedagogy for teaching copywriting skills; (ii) enhances communication capabilities in the areas of content creation, marketing communications, employer branding, and media partnerships.

To achieve these objectives, the course curriculum (i) is grounded in research-based principles that help instructors identify participants’ training needs; (ii) aligns participants’ capabilities with industry requirements; and (iii) supports professional effectiveness and personal development in copywriting.

3. Copywriting course outcomes

The final output of every copywriting project is a product — brochures, apps, websites, edited annual reports, etc. But the act of copywriting itself is a service. This is an important distinction, which is fairly easy to overlook. Professional copywriters offer service expertise to achieve an end product. Clients hire us not just for our ideas but their execution. In other words, we translate thoughts into measurable outcomes through process-driven methodologies.

This process has key service design elements which map onto (i) our client’s vision; and (ii) our creative process. Professional copywriters are assessed as much on the final product as the design method employed during the creative process. As such, becoming a professional copywriter means training both, creative capabilities (ideation) and processing capacities (iteration).
