Editorial Calendars

How, when, and where do people engage with your content? Every video, post, tweet, image, and graphic is being viewed in a specific physical and temporal context. Your content exists in a space and time in someone’s life.

Creating a decent editorial calendar requires thinking about this context. Current events, personal journeys, corporate schedules, and industry trends shape the editorial calendar and make it meaningful.

This content marketing class delves into the nuances of creating an editorial calendar. We will be considering all the factors that influence the calendar, and learning how to plan ahead so that your brand’s content is relevant to your audience’s lives.

Archetypes

What defines you? Are you an age-range, a postcode, or a net worth? Or are you an individual with true strengths and real struggles? Demographics can only take brands so far when understanding the consumer psyche. Through the archetype approach, your consumer becomes a living, breathing human being.

Archetypes are representative incarnations of your audience. When you create an archetype, you’re constructing an identity, an individual whose problems you can help solve, and whose aspirations can be part of your brand promise.

This content marketing class introduces you to the archetype framework and explains how to develop archetypes for current and future business goals. We’re going to learn about how this powerful tool can be applied across every type of content to make it resonate with audiences.

Speak-Write

No matter how amazing your website is, people still want to build a human connection with the folks on the other side. That’s why a phone call or face-to-face meetings almost always win out. Conversations are natural forces for engagement and we use them all the time to drive genuine relationships; that is until our fingers hit the keyboard.

When writing to someone, anyone, your style doesn’t have to change. In fact, it should follow your natural speaking pattern. In other words, write how you would speak and you will always have a conversational, engaging tone in every document.

This content marketing class looks at how we can integrate our natural speech format with our writing styles. We will learn how to write the way we speak, dispel myths about informal being unprofessional, and examine the speak-write styles of world leaders and big brands.
